What that means

Nothing to fetch at the counter

The barcode is rendered on the device from what was stored when you added the card. No request goes out, so nothing can time out while somebody waits behind you.

Brightens itself to be read

The screen lifts when a barcode is on it, and the card turns sideways for the reader — both without asking, and both with the network down.

Changes are versioned, not merged

Every change carries a version. When two devices disagree, the conflict is resolved by version rather than field by field — so nothing is silently lost.

Locked without a round trip

Passkey and biometric unlock happen on the device, so opening the wallet never waits on a server either.

Will the barcode scan in a dark shop?
